This variety forms a much larger head than the early curled Simpson, it is much lighter in color, forming a large, thin and very tender leaf. It is the best of the curled varieties for forcing and is used to a considerable extent for this purpose. It is also an excellent sum- mer lettuce for out-door ijlanting.
