Black and white infrared landscape of road to Khokana and Bungamati amongst the terraced rice fields of Kathmandu valley Nepal
This series of pictures was taken in the south of the Kathmandu valley near Bhainsepati and Bungamati Although Kathmandu is developing rapidly this is still a rural area with poor farming communities and a lot of poverty This picture was captured in October 2005 using a digital camera without its infrared filter and the result is the same as traditional black and white infrared film It produces a surreal grainy image with darkened skies extra contrast and often a darker slightly ethereal mood Foliage is white due to the IR light it reflects In the centre of the image you can make out a bus slightly blurred by the long exposure Dramatic graphic striking image
