Jane Coston Cycle Bridge in Cambridge
The idea of a cycle bridge crossing the A14 and linking Milton with north Cambridge was first discussed in 1970 following the death of a 16 year old boy In 2003 Government announced that it would spend pounds 2 million to build a bridge and work commenced later that year It was oficially opened on 18 May 2004 and is named after the Chair of Milton Parish Council who campaigned for the bridge for many years The bridge was designed by Owen Williams Engineers and built by Mowlem Civil Engineering The central span is 77 metres in length making it one of the longest cycle and pedestrian bridges in the country
