Reptilian styled roof detail on Casa Batlló, Barcelona

The building Casa Batll located at Number 43 Passeig de Grcia in Barcelona was designed and renovated by Antoni Gaudi between 1904-1906 for Josep Batll, a wealthy aristocrat. Seor Batll lived in the lower two floors with his family and the upper floors were rented out as apartments. The interior patio was enlarged and covered with ceramic tiles which are dark blue at the top, progressively getting lighter toward the ground floor, eventually reaching white. This achieves better distribution of the natural light.
