On Freta Nowomiejska, main thoroughfare in the Old Town towards the Barbican and the remains of a well preserved medieval city wall in Warsaw, Poland. The walls were built in the 15th century. During the Warsaw Uprising the walls were severely damaged. After World War 11, the walls were faithfully rebuilt. 85 % of the old town was destroyed in the war, much of it during the Warsaw Uprising in August 1944.
