Young woman belonging to the Agaw people ( Ethiopia)

Originally, the Agaw are farmers living in different parts of the Ethiopian highlands. This young mother is hailing from the Sekota region. Because of the drought, she ( and her husband) has left their home to come to Mekele ( the capital of the Tigray state) for doing menial jobs or begging. Despite being orthodox christians, Agaw who have migrated to Mekele are despised by the local pouplation ( mainly orthodox christians) because they are very poor, illiterate and dirty.
