REPORT FROM FALL MINI CONFERENCE - Collaboration with REGION 6 - (Chris Maggs, AAAS Director) To all who participated in any way in our first annual mini-conference held at Evergreen Park, a great big "Thank Youl!!" This joint effort between AAAS and Community Services proved to be very popular and in most cases addressed all our concerns. Evergreen Park hosted a wine and cheese Friday evening which was attended by over 90 people who were treated to many forms of entertainment, including some talented members of the region's agricultural societies. The Department staff managed to capture the attention of the gathering by treating us, in song form, to a look at what they really dol I'm sure we all have a better understanding of their jobs after their performance. Several laughs were had and opportunity was given to anyone to walk up to the front of the room and tell everyone about their society's activities. Sharing of ideas and getting to know each other was very evident at Clarkson Hall. The Saturday sessions were a mix of information and ideas. Agricultural societies have more ideas of how to get more agriculture into their society events. More societies now understand what AAAS is all about. Both the sessions on executive duties and volunteers could have been fuT workshops but ideas were gleaned and will be tried in the future. In all, the day was a good learning experience. Plans to have another ge'^ together next year are already anticipatea Many agricultural societies are hoping t attend the annual conference in Camrose ir; February.
