Instructions for installing modern plumbing systems. rter bend outside thewall, calk a piece of 4-inch soil pipe with aventilating cap on the end, the pipe to belong enough to reach into the open air. INSTALLATION No. 11With All Sewage Emptying Directly Into One Main The illustration of Installation No. 11, onpage 32, shows all the sewage from thecloset, sink, and, in fact, all the kitchenand bathroom fixtures emptying direct into4-inch soil pipe laid in the ground beneaththe house. There is no catch basin to sepa- rate the grease from the sink and laundrytub waste, as was allowed for in Installa-tion No. 10 shown on this page. InstallationNo. 11 is very easy to install and gives goodresults, but will not be accepted by theplumbing ordinances in many cities. If, however, your plumbing ordinance will per-mit, this system will be satisfactory if thecity sewer runs directly past the house, orat least at no great distance. The illustration gives a view of the under-ground sewer pipe, looking directly down SEARS, ROEBUCK AND CO., CHICAGO. 31. &tt i . r Illustration of Installation No. 11. on it from above. The line at the right handside of the illustration represents the housewall at the front of the building. Thekitchen drain comes down in the lower lefthand corner, and the bathroom drainage inthe upper left hand corner. If your kitchenand bathroom are placed differently, yourpipe will, of course, not run as shown in theillustration. Assuming that your sewage will emptyinto the city sewer at the front of the build-ing, you will naturally pitch your sewerpipes that way. The practical procedurewould then be: First, to calk a rod-outplug into a 4x2-inch Y, this being the Yshown at the end of the center line of pipein the illustration. This is the fitting thatmakes the connection between the kitchendrainage and the bathroom drainage. Next calk a regular 4-inch Y on the hub-less end of a length of 4-inch soil pipe, andinto the top of this length of soil pipe calkthe 4x2-in
