Northern hawk owl (Surnia ulula) catching a vole in snow. This owl measure betwenn 35 and 43 centimetres in length and has a wingspan of up to 82 centimetres. It is found in North America and Eurasia. It preys mainly on voles and small birds. Photographed in Kusamo, Finland, in March.
