A thorough test in our experimental grounds proved it to be all that was claimed for it, and we have no hesitation in offering it as the finest of all dark-colored Torenias ; the plant forms a compact bush 6 inches high, which is completely covered from May until frost with mammoth flowers, the lower and side petals of a deep velvety indigo- purple, the upper petal deep lavender, the whole being re- lieved by a golden-yellow blotch at the base of the lower petal; for baskets, vases, or for edges of borders or beds, it is unequaled.
