He was educated in the pub-lic schools of Lowell. He engaged in the gro-cery and provision trade for several years,and stood high in the opinion of the merchantsand business men of the city. He was directorof the Lowell National Bank and a prominentfactor in financial circles. He was a memberof St. Patricks parish of the Roman CatholicChurch, and a liberal supporter of the faith ofhis fathers. In politics he was a Democrat,giving freely to support the principles andcandidates of his party but not seeking honorsfor himself. He was a member of the Lowell. JOHN H. COFFEY i MIDDLESEX COUNTY. 1947 Knights of Columbus and the Elks, and inthose orders was particularly popular with hisfellows. He was kindly, agreeable and attrac-tive in his manner and speech. He married, 1886, Annie Quinn, daughterof Peter and Mary (Cosgrove) Quinn, ofLowell. She survives him, residing in thehomestead at Lowell, a member of St. Pat-ricks Catholic Church and well known in thesocial and religious circles of Lowell. Chil-dren: I. Anna T., educated in the public andhigh schools of Lowell, graduating in 1907,now a teacher in the public schools. 2. JohnH., Jr., educated in the public and high schools,resides at home. Charles Darwin Elliot, son ofELLIOT Joseph and Zenora (Tucker) Elliot, born in Foxboro, Massa-chusetts, June 20, 1837. He was educated inthe schools of Foxboro, Wrentham, Maiden,and Somerville, and the Hopkins ClassicalSchool
