Treatment.—Treatment as to the attacks consists of rest in bed andthe administration of digitalis in full dosage, and if pain is present,opiates. In the intervals there must be a regulation of the diet, andavoidance of undue excitement and physical exertion. Acute Endocarditis.—Acute endocarditis is an inflammation of thelining membrane of the heart. That covering the valves and theirimmediate vicinity is the area generally affected.
