Shia Muslim commemorates Muharram, the first month of the lunar calendar, as month of mourning in rememberance of the Martyrdom Islamic Prophet Muhammad PBUH's grandson Imam Hussain (PBUH) who was martyred on 10th day of Muharram in battle of Karbala in 680 some 1400 years ago.
