Thecity has no slums. Wealth is not in thehands of a few, but is generally distributed. In brief, Parkersburg has schoolbuildings, ninety-five schoolrooms, sixteenprincipals and 104 teachers and special in-structors under the control of one superin-tendent. Prof. M. D. BLENNEKHASSET CLUB Last year the average daily attendance forthe city system was 3,048. The Carnegie library is under the controlof the board of education and works alongwith the schools. More than 2,000 pupilsregularly patronize this library, which hasnearly 25,000 volumes and is the best-equipped and best-organized library in theState. The schools are carefully graded, thecorps of teachers one of the most efficientto be found in any city of its size in theUnited States, and the equipment city schools rank very high for effi-ciency and are the best in the State. The high school at present has twocourses of study, each of four years, theliterary or academic and the faculty consists of fourteen members,each college bred and thoroughly equippedfor his work.
