For the purpose of testing the instruments to be used in India, he had a special observatory built, adjacent to the India Store Department in Belvedere-road, Lambeth, which was erected and fitted up according to plans furnished by him, with entirely satisfactory instruments which he sent to India have proved excellently well adapted to the work they were required to perform'.
