Customers outside a branch of Metro Bank in Moorgate, London, UK. Launched in 2010, shares in the bank recently hit record lows.
Metro Bank became Britain's first new High Street lender for more than 100 years when launched in 2010. In Spring 2019 it was reported that customers were queueing outside the bank after a WhatsApp message advised customers to withdraw their money from their accounts as the value of existing shares fell 70-80% over the last year and by more than 40% in just one day in February 2019. The Moorgate branch is the 66th and opened in January 2019.
