Behind the scenes at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, London

Tropical nursery Many of the plants on display at Kew are nurtured here. At 6500 square metres, it is the largest area under glass in the gardens but is not generally open to the public. The nursery is split into 21 climatic zones, allowing a wide range of plants to flourish. There is a strictly enforced quarantine zone for plants collected from the wild, to protect the environment from non-native pests or diseases.
