Multi-colored patterned tiled roof of St Matthias Church Budapest Hungary Europe


Parts of St Matthias church date back half a millennium. The church was named because King Matthias Corvinus married Beatrice here in 1474. The church is basically a neo-Gothic creation designed by architect Frigyes Schulek in 1896. The church has a colourful tiled roof and its interior is remarkable for its stained-glass 1867 Franz Liszt's Hungarian Coronation Mass was first played here for the coronation of Franz Joseph and Elizabeth as King and queen of Hungary.
