PEARL HARBOR (Nov. 10, 2015) Members of FOCUS Project Hawaii receive a tour aboard the Los Angeles-class fast attack submarine USS Charlotte (SSN 766), led by the submarine's independent duty corpsman, Hospital Corpsman Chief Petty Officer Jon Waite. FOCUS, or Families OverComing Under Stress, is a service based on programs that show positive outcomes for families facing multiple challenges. FOCUS was developed at the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior in collaboration with the National Child Traumatic Stress Network and Children's Hospital Boston/Harvard Medical School.
