Master Thatcher James Caro places thatching straw to repair the roof of Anne Hathaway's cottage in Stratford on Avon

Master Thatcher James Caro uses thatching straw to repair the roof of Anne Hathaway's (Shakespeare's mother) cottage in the small Warwickshire town of Stratford-upon-Avon. He then uses a Thatcher's tool called a "Leggett" to make sure that the straw is tightly fitted to make the roof waterproof. The thatching will take 12-weeks to complete, and is work undertaken once every 30-years. The next time that the repairs will take place is due to be 2038.
