Rae, A vacancy of several months followed,in course of which a bazaar was held ona large scale for the reduction of the debton the church buildings. Ultimately J. Rae, , of Newport, wasunanimously elected to the pastorate, andhaving accepted the call he was inductedon 20th January, 1905. After a distin-guished career as a student, Mr. Rae hadbeen ordained at Newport in 1891, and hadthus acquired considerable experience inthe practical work of the ministry. Duringhis thirteen years pastorate at Newport,he had gained the reputation of being acultured and thoughtful preacher and avigorous worker. On coming to Beech-grove he entered heartily into all itsschemes and efforts, and has maintained itsefficiency in all departments. Under hisministry the membership has been still further increased, and the interests andactivities of the congregation have beendeveloped.
