Common chiton


Common chiton (Chiton sp.), a marine polyplacophoran mollusc of the family Tonicellidae. It is an oval mollusc identifiable by their eight plates. It is a microalgae herbivore that inhabits rock pools and intertidal flats. It is found in the North Atlantic, North Sea and the Black Sea. Photographed in West Wales, UK, in September.
