Generally these manos appear to he a class which forms the link in the de\'elopment into the longer flat-taljular mano and eventually into the bex^elcd mano. They could have been used for a short time on a trough metate without being worn to a convex shape on the sides of the trough because they are short, btit this type is believed to have been commonly associated with a flat metate. Two-hand manos (fig. 51).—These longer manos comprise the larger of the two major groups and total 113 specimens. They range up to 25 cm. in length (average length about 18 cm.), and the width is about 11 cm. Occasional specimens are cm. wide, and a few loaf-shaped speci-.
