Aurora, Colorado, 20th July. On the one year anniversary of the Aurora Theater shooting in Aurora, Colorado, Greg Zanis from Aurora, Illinois tends to crosses across the street from the Aurora Movie Theater on the morning of July 20, 2013. Zanis spent 3 days building the crosses at his home in Illinois and drove 18 hours and over 1,000 miles to place them as a memorial to the victims of the theater shooting in Aurora, Colorado. Zanis has placed over 14,000 crosses around the country at places of mass shootings.

Zanis has placed over 14,000 crosses around the country at places of mass shootings. When asked why he does it, Zanis responded “This is where the soul leads to go to heaven”. Zanis spent the night at the memorial in his truck and plans to drive back to his home in Illinois today.
