First World War remembrance. The poignant inscription carved on a decorated wooden plaque inside the village church of Littlebredy in Dorset, England.

“Nat Williams born 24 Jan 1878 a man greatly loved:Gave his life amongst the first of the New Zealanders in St. Mark’s day 1915 His friends in Littlebredy set this record to his memory” The poignant inscription carved on a decorated wooden plaque inside “The Church of St Michael and All Angels”, in the tiny Dorset village of Littlebredy, and dedicated to the memory of one individual man who fell during the First World War, in the Gallipoli campaign of 1915. Not even this secluded and peaceful place remained untouched by the carnage.
