St Andrew Holborn, London: upper section of tower with four weathervanes
St Andrew's Holborn, Tower, In 1703−4, some twenty years after the main rebuilding, Wren remodelled the fifteenth-century tower in stone to match the body of the church, retaining its Gothic buttresses and pointed windows on the lower storeys. On the arches of the tower are lion's mask keystones, typical Hawksmoor details. His hand can also be seen in the unusual finials above the balustrade. The four weathervanes were only reinstated in 2015.
