That Conference dissolved hopefully andthe matter had entered on a new phase. In the NewSouth Wales Parliament the opposition was long andbitter. Mr. J. H. Want opposed the whole scheme as a FROISI COLONY TO COMMONWEALTH. 20 fashionable fad, and others opposed it on side issues; butthe resolution to send delegates was carried on Septem-ber loth. There was more or less delay in the othercolonies, but on March 2nd, 1891, the Convention met inSvdney. The delegates were :— New SoutJi Wales : Sir Henry Parkes (Premier),Mr. W.
