Certolizumab pegol syringe. Certolizumab pegol (trade name Cimzia) is an injectable synthetic protein antibody that binds to a substance called tumour necrosis factor alpha (TNFa). TNFa is produced in the body during inflammation, and it promotes inflammatory processes. Certolizumab blocks its inflammatory effects in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and Crohn's disease.
