Pinned fractured lower leg bones. Frontal X-ray of pins, screws and plates (white) implanted to hold together fractures of the fibula and tibia (the two lower leg bone) in a 41-year-old woman. The pins, screws and plates hold the bones in place as they heal. The large amount of fixation used here indicates a severe set of fractures and/or complications such as bone demineralisation.
