Sangduen "Lek" Chailert known as Thailand’s “Elephant Whisperer” was born in the Northern Mountains of Thailand and grew up with her shaman grandfather, a traditional healer who helped sick and injured people within his community and animals. There she witnessed the horrible abuse of elephants that were forced to carry logs into the jungle. She formed Save Elephant Foundation and Elephant Nature Park on 250 acres with over 200 rescued elephants and many other animals which aims to protect and encourage a natural existence for elephants and other animals that have been innocent victims of abuse and exploitation. She has dedicated her life to fighting for animal rights and putting an end to animal abuse that is involved with logging, tourism, circuses, and street begging. Her work has been recognized and rewarded internationally.
