. Florists' review [microform]. Floriculture. 126 The Florists^ Review JANUABX 5. 1022 Stockton, Sacramento and other places. Mr. Costa expressed the opinion that prices to the grower were low enough at the present time. Edward Daniels, of the staff of Thomas & Harris, was held up while on his way home, Christmas eve. He was relieved of one week's salary and a number of Christmas presents. Mr. Harris stated that business was more than satisfactory this year. Heather was in considerable demand, Thomas & Harris featuring this. Heather is new in the east bay district, and is proving popular. On the Tues- day following Christmas, Thomas & Harris conducted twelve funerals and a great deal of table decorating was booked for New Year's day. Hogan & Evers did well this year, considering the weather conditions. The telegraph business was increased 400 per cent. F. S. Clarke did jiractically as large a volume of business this year as last, but he believes that the rain caused business to be twenty-five per cent loss than it should have ])een. Mr. Clarke was engaged in caring for several fu- nerals December 27 and expressed the opinion that there were enough delayed funerals to relieve the dealers of their surplus stock. W. S. Harmon, of the H. M. Sanborn Co., said that the cut flower business was twenty-five per cent less this year, but this loss was about evened up by a twenty per cent increase in seed and bulb sales. Mr. Harmon found that low- priced goods were all that sold this Christmas. W. I. Mac Donald is much in favor of some form of organization among the local florists, which would enable them to realize more for their work. At present there is little coiiperation among the local florists. In fact, it has so far been impossible to .-igree upon closing hours. Mr. MacDnnaM also believes that more cooperation with the growers and less ])laying of tlie market would serve to stabilize the market, and result in lower i)rices. The riowershop, Herkelev, Cal.
