Type IV collagen C4 domain. Molecular model of the type IV collagen C4 domain found at the C-terminus of type IV collagens. This molecule is also known as the collagen IV noncollagenous1 (NC1) domain. Type IV collagens are found in basement membranes, where their head-to-head linking (as opposed to the usual parallel linking of collagen fibres) provides strength and an anchoring scaffold.
