This image may not be used to state or imply the endorsement by NRAO, AUI or NSF of any company or product False-colour radio image of Tycho's supernova remnant (3C 10) at a wavelength of 22 cm taken by the Very Large Array (VLA) radio telescope, New Mexico. In 1572, Tycho Brahe viewed the supernova explosion which blew apart this heavy, evolved star after it ran out of fuel. Radio emission comes from a spherically expanding shock wave where extremely energetic electrons are accelerated in a strong magnetic field. Resolution 10x16 arcseconds, field of view 17x17 arcminutes. Observers: S. Reynolds & R. Chevalier. VLA in C-configuration, 26 antennae, 10/12/81.
