France. Gard (30) Aerial view of the Pont du Gard. It is a Roman aqueduct with three levels (48m high) which spans the Gardon. Built in the 1st century, it carried water to Nimes until the 6th century. Classified as a historic monument in 1841, it has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since December 1985.
