A very rare early Swiss infantry sword circa 1470-1520. With slender double-edged blade of flattened hexagonal section formed with a short point, iron cross-piece curved towards the grip and tapering slightly towards the tips, iron boat-shaped pommel-cap also tapering towards the ends, the cross-piece and the pommel-cap each with rounded curved inner edges, each fitted over a brass fillet, and retaining its original carved figured pale rootwood grip.
