Jean de Joinville, French chronicler, 1224–1317. He wears a short white cape embroidered in gold, with hood and long tail. His surtout, garters, stockings and shoes are also white and gold. Handcoloured copperplate drawn and engraved by Leopold Massard from French Costumes from King Clovis to Our Days, Massard, Mifliez, Paris, 1834.
