SAN DIEGO (July 18, 2018) - Capt. Roy Love (right), Naval Base San Diego (NBSD) commanding officer and Cmdr. Josh Gamez (left), NBSD public works officer discuss pier condition and maintenance issues with the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Energy, Installations and Environment (EI&E) the Honorable Mrs. Phyllis L. Bayer. NBSD has 13 piers to support its 53 homeported ships when they are in port. Mrs. Bayer is touring Navy and Marine Corps installations throughout Southern California to assess EI&E issues throughout the region.
