110327JG138-263 OSHIMA, Japan (March 27, 2011) Sailors and Marines assigned to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (31st MEU), work with Japanese civilians and Japan Ground Self-Defense Force personnel to offload supplies from a landing craft utility (LCU) during Operation Tomodachi. The LCU transported five utility vehicles, 3,456 Meals Ready-to-Eat, 239 five-gallon jugs of water, 136 tarps, fuel and 300 hygiene kits for the people of Oshima, which was devastated by the earthquake and subsequent tsunami March 11.
