In New York Dr. Manning met, and subsequently married, George FiskComfort, the distinguished scholar, linguist, and artcritic, the founder and dean of the College of finearts of the Syracuse university. In 1872 they re-moved to Syracuse, N. Y., and for several yearsthereafter, while her children were young. Dr. Com-fort relinquished the practice of medicme. Uponresuming practice she confined her work to gynecol-ogy and lias achieved a marked succes and high dis-tinction in that field. In 1874 she wrote WomansEducation and Womans Health, in reply to Clarkes Sex in Education. She has trav-eled extensively abroad, visiting the various impor-tant hospitals and medical institutions.
