A powerful storm takes place over Warradarge. AUSTRALIA: MEET THE photographer who spends up to THREE-DAYS at a time chasing a single storm and once came within metres of a bolt of lightning. In one image, a singular bolt of lightning connected with a power-mast is captured casting an eerie purple glow across Auski Roadhouse campsite. In another, two powerful bolts were photographed as they struck Jandakot airport, illuminating the empty runways. Photographer, Jordan Cantelo (35), from Perth, Australia, has been travelling around Australia?s western region for 15 years chasing storms. From three-day cyclones to 16-hour thunderstorms, Jordan captures epic weather events ? once even coming within 165-foot of a lightning strike. Currently, the chances of getting struck by lightning are one in 12,000 although due to climate change, scientists believe this could increase to one in 8,000 by 2100. Unbeknownst to many, people who do get struck by lightning develop an unusual rash due to the heat and the passage of electrical volts across the skin. These are called ?red Lichtenberg figures? named after the German physicist who discovered it. / Jordan Cantelo
