Marks and Spencer says it has been working on the hampers, which will be given to the ticket-holders sitting on long trestle tables the length of The Mall, since last August. Our inspiration started with Her Majesty herself and a desire to celebrate the best of all things British, Miss Ziles said. Peter Phillips has tasted it and was very excited. The starter is a Scottish smoked salmon mousse from Lochmuir, prepared using an oak tree taken from the Queen's beloved Sandringham Estate. Other items include a Pembrokeshire chicken salad, Wye Valley asparagus from Herefordshire and Cornish potatoes. There are mini piccalilli pork pies handcrafted in Melton Mowbray, and the pudding is what Marks and Spencer is calling its posh Raspberry Royale, made from Norfolk raspberries, strawberry jelly, clotted cream and a chocolate plaque with an etching of a crown on it. The retailer has also created hampers suitable for vegetarians, vegans and children, as well as gluten-free versions. Guests will also be given a plate, a plastic set of cutlery, a wine tumbler and a napkin that they can take away with them. Drinks on offer include English apple juice, water and a 250ml can of Pimm's.
