Cory Wray, daughter of one of G&C Farms owners with the 'mother' Orondo Ruby cherry tree at the orchard outside Wenatchee, WA, USA. Orondo Ruby cherries are a completely new variety of cherry that combines the best qualities of Rainiers and Bings. They are very sweet but with enough tart flavor to make the taste more complex. The original tree, pictured here, showed up in a grove of Rainier cherries and while it appears to be a hybrid of Rainiers and Bings, it has a completely new and different DNA.
