Three stages of the edible fruit of the cape gooseberry (Physalis peruviana)

The three stages of the cape gooseberry fruit from green to paper like brown cover with green berry inside, and then transparent cover of the yellow ripe berry. The last stage is a lace lantern which falls apart when the fruit is fully ripe, and it also makes a great shadow. Berries are delicious and tart with a citrus like burst.
