Martin & Forbes had a fine lot of stock in all varieties. When called upon, Mr. Forbes said he was too busy to talk and his only word was "Say It with ; L. T. S. SPOBLANE, WASH. The Market. Boses were scarce last week and are likely to be scarce for the next two weeks. Daffodils made their appear- ance on the market, but will be in limit- ed supply for at least a week. Freesias are plentiful and are in large demand, especially for design work. Some fine cyclamens are to be had. Various Notes. Miss Helen Babcoek, of Eugene's Flower Shop, surprised the trade by be- coming the bride of Mr. Moss, New Year's eve. The detailed arrangements for the an- nual banquet will be made at the next meeting of the Florists' Club. A. J. Burt received an order for a handsome bouquet for Mme. Luisa Tetrazzini, the Italian singer. H, H. COLD APFECTS ASFIDISTBA. I am sending two aspidistra leaves. I sold the plant about two months ago and now the customer is having trouble with the leaves turning. I have none in my greenhouse with leaves in this condition and should like to know what the trouble is and what causes it. H. N. C—Pa. The leaves seem to indicate that the plants have either been kept excess- ively dry, or, more probably, exposed to a too low temperature. Aspidistraa are tough-leaved subjects and stand an extraordinary degree of neglect with- out being affected, but there is, of course, a limit beyond which one cannot go with them. I should say that ex- treme cold has been the cause of the trouble. C. W. Make Your Own Pots | < =S -^'"^ The concrete / flower pot is*/ machine is J ^ simple and H easy
