A silhouette drawn from life of Robert Burns (1759 – 1796) cut in 1787. It is said to be a 'true likeness'.Burns was also known as the National Bard, Bard of Ayrshire and the Ploughman Poet. He is the best known of the poets who have written in the Scots language and Scottish dialect, His most well known songs and poems, often performed at Hogmanay (31st December) include - "Auld Lang Syne", "Scots Wha Hae", "Tam o' Shanter" and (my love is like) "A Red, Red Rose". Burns was a Freemason. Scots around the world celebrate Burn's Night on the anniversary of his birth, 25th January.
