InSight lander on Mars. The InSight (Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport) lander arrived on Mars on 26 November 2018. This mosaic comprises 11 images taken by the lander's Instrument Deployment Camera (IDC) on its robotic arm. It shows the lander's solar panels and deck. On top of the deck are its science instruments (see image C042/1777), weather sensor booms and UHF antenna. The InSight lander is designed to study the interior of Mars. It will investigate the processes that formed and shaped Mars and its findings will improve our understanding of the evolution of the inner solar system's rocky planets. Image acquired on 6 December 2018.
