Birling Gap, East Sussex, April sunset.
Birling Gap cottages were built in 1863. Since this picture was taken in April 2013 the recent spate of storms, high tides, torrential rain and winds from the South has caused three times the normal amount of erosion such that the cliff edge is now just one meter from the end cottage which has been vacated as a holiday home and is soon to be demolished following the fate of two previous cottages over the years in the same Council annual erosion surveys at the site have been carried out each August since the 1930's, the previous record being 16 feet in one year in the 30's.
