Pike's Peak, or Sibley, Skin smooth and thin and of a pale-green color; flesh thick, solid ; orange color ; very dry ; fine grain and delicate flavor. Mammoth Chili. One of the best sorts for winter use, as it is an excellent keeping variety ; flesh bright-vellow, of fine flavor. Hubbard. (.See cut ) One of the best late table varieties; of large size; flesh fine-grained, dry, of excellent flavor. Marblehead. Resembling the Hubbard; but of a lighter color, and is remarkable for its sweetness, dryness and deliciou<; as well as its keeping qualities. Bay State. Extremely solid, of heavy weight, fine and dry flesh, of sweet flavor, of a beautiful bright golden-yellow, very hand- some ; blue, shell extremely hard and flinty; an excellent keeper. Essex Hybrid AVarren, or American Turban. This variety is one of the finest grained and sweetest of the Squash family. Specimens kept until June as sound and as good as when gathered in the fall.
