ALBANY EDWARD HOWARTH. Howarth was born in Durham in 1872, and educatedat the Royal Kepier College, Houghton-le-Spring. Arttraining was obtained at the Northumberland College ArtSchools, Newcastle-on-Tyne. He joined the firm of Arm-strong Whitworth at Newcastle as a draughtsman, andthen took a position on a Northern Press organ as illustratorand cartoonist. He later devoted himself to etching,living much abroad in France, Spain. Italy, Holland, andScandinavia, whence he obtained a numerous and variedselection of subjects, his treatment of which has broughthim deserved fame in the world of Art.
