5TH FLEET AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY (March 19, 2013) Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Equipment) 2nd Class Jerhmell Griffin signals for the launch of an F/A-18F Super Hornet from the Black Aces of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 41 on the flight deck aboard the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74). The John C. Stennis Carrier Strike Group is deployed to the 5th Fleet area of responsibility conducting maritime security operations, theater security cooperation efforts and support missions for Operation Enduring Freedom.
